Reality check ... being tasked to lead others is daunting at first!
💥 You are awesome at what you do so you got promoted. Yes!
💥 Now you have people reporting to you.
Let me guess…
Your boss knows you can be trusted to deliver the goods, so you are being asked to do more, and more and more.
You constantly have to step in to rescue your people’s work. Either it’s not good enough or they are about to miss their deadline, which impacts yours.
You explain what you are looking for, you get a “good to go” nod from your team only to discover down the road that they are completely missing the mark.
You want more training, but you're too busy to consider it. High Alert ⚡
Sounds familiar?
Here’s the thing ... research has shown that less than half of us have any idea what we are signing up for when we say yes to that long-awaited promotion.
This is when you're confronted with the reality that not everyone does it your way or shares your drive and work ethic.
🤯 Yup, different people do things differently
😬 And sometimes their work is not up to your standards.
🤔 It can feel daunting to realize that you are not leading a group of clones.
What no one tells us is that there is a different skill set we need to add to our tool box- managing and leading.
And for some good news, let's do some leadership myth-busting!
-
Not quite!
Sure, you’ll continue to rely on your great work, but there is a different skill set to develop if you are going to be able to take on bigger things. In fact, you need to understand this “presto”, otherwise, burnout is around the corner.
-
Nope!
Leadership is a set of skills we develop.
-
Hell no!
You don’t have to fit a “universal leader model”; in fact, there is no such thing.
-
Not exactly!
Sure, you’ll want to understand what drives other people in order to set them up for success BUT it starts with being clear about who you are, staying true to yourself and figuring out how to best provide guidance to people that have a different style.
So how do you become the leader you want to be?
Step 1: Start with yourself.
Be clear about who you are
Understand, accept and leverage the fact that other people may be effective using different styles in their work
⇨ You discover how to maximize everyone’s contributions, which is “the Caramilk’s secret” of effective leadership.
Step 2: Develop new skills.
Provide a vision for your people to connect to
Create alignment and buy-in
Enable execution amongst your team members
⇨ You’ll be able to establish and grow your leadership capacity.
Now, let’s start where you are!
This interactive program will help you understand your own style, debunk the myths of leadership and create a practical, individual leadership development plan founded in your reality.
What the program is about.
