The Great Resignation — or the Great Reset?
I’m hopeful that we are getting to the other side of the pandemic’s blatant devastation.
People are starting to travel for fun again, families and communities are gathering, employees are finding their way back to the office for part of their work week, and face-to-face meetings are being planned. All of this is encouraging.
Short Stories with Purpose
Can you believe that 2021 is coming to a close? I didn’t think it could be as hard as 2020, but it was. I want to wrap things up with three short stories. They recount moments of the past year that have left me thinking about messages of the past months.
The Olympic Mirror - Reflection Of Our Times
I love watching the Olympics. I am in awe of the athletes and their performances blow my mind. Likewise, the opening ceremony is usually a treat, an opportunity to observe a culture through the performing arts. But these are different times.
My Lessons From The Pandemic and What It Means For My Business
Here we are, peeps. More than one year into the pandemic, and, while there are signs of hope, we are not out of it yet.
Values: Living from the Inside-Out
Last week, a former client shared how instrumental the values work we did was in gaining clarity about her circumstances and in fostering our coaching relationship, which ultimately motivated her to start her own consulting business.
2021 – What are you bringing forward?
My Mom always said to never wish your time away.
But I can say that I am happy to be done with this past year. Phew… It has been trying at so many levels: violence, hurricanes, wildfires, political divisiveness, and of course, Covid-19. Talk about a heck of a roller-coaster ride!
2020 continued – An offer for you
And just like that, we got to September.
September is usually a time I view as “the other start of the year.” In January we set intentions, plans, resolutions, and goals for the year ahead. After the summer, September is conducive to revisiting, updating, and celebrating achievements.
The invisible shackles of systems
Ever noticed how some situations, conversations, or moments get vividly etched in our memory bank? I’m sure there is a reason why this happens. The other day, one such memory came by for a visit with me.
How I Started Writing
My Pen is a longtime friend of mine; we share a special bond with my Words and my Soul. We all go way back, getting along famously and have quite the history of getting into all kinds of mischief together.
But one day, all of a sudden, my favourite Pen felt especially itchy in my hand.
I asked my Pen, “What is with the sudden itch?”
It quickly replied, “Sudden…really?”
I paused and reflected. Since I had committed to developing unbounded awareness, it seemed that a lot of things had been happening. Surely, some of these things had been in the works for quite some time. Was it possible that they had been staring at me without my noticing?
That’s when it dawned on me it was pretty likely that the itch was not new.
My Pen continued: “I have been telling you for years about the Words anxious to get out. Many of them feel strongly that they can help others.
What is the point of all the cuts and bruises you have sustained over the course of your adventures in the corporate world if they don’t serve a purpose?”
I remained silent and paid close attention, sensing my Pen was not done. It continued: “You often refer to your favourite book, The Little Prince. You have gifted many copies of it to people you love.” I nodded. “Do you recall The Businessman, the fourth person The Little Prince meets? He is so busy; he does not even have time to greet his visitor. If I may,” continued the Pen in a very calm and caring voice, “you have been very busy.”
Then there was silence.
After a while, not sure how long, I smiled at my Pen apologetically and said, “Tell the Words I am very sorry it took me so long to put two and two together. I’m ready to serve them. I see that we have work to do.”
That’s how it started.
